Florida jury verdict against R.J. Reynolds — $30 Million

TPLP Senior Attorney Edward L. Sweda, Jr. stated on Monday June 1, 2009: “The jury’s resounding award of $30 million in the Martin v. R.J. Reynolds case is but the latest legal development against the tobacco industry. The unmistakable message from this jury is that the tobacco industry’s reprehensible misconduct must not be minimized or excused.” Mr. Sweda can be reached at 617-373-8462.

The Tobacco Products Liability Project (TPLP) is a project of the Public Health Advocacy Institute, which is based at Northeastern University School of Law in Boston.
